Japanese carbon fibre and patented Tg

Japanese carbon fiber is combined with a proprietary high Tg (a resin treated at 220°C). This compound is 30% stronger than standard resin, and the Tg+ improves braking performance by allowing consistent heat buildup and greater forgiveness. This reduces the heat responsible for decreased braking power. Compared to standard wheels, the Tg reduces stopping distance by 28%.

Semi-patented automatic lacquering

Semi-patented automatic coating is used in the manufacture of the brake track, fibre and rim. It eliminates human error in the area critical to carbon consistency and produces a more uniform rim with fewer gaps in the tubular rim. In addition, it is designed so that the centre of the track, where the tyre sits, is deeper in the bottom of the track, resulting in a more aerodynamic and safer wheel.

Finishing on the rim edge

On the rim of the hoop, a carbon finish is applied to provide a stronger, stiffer and more heat-tolerant final structure.

Assembly and quality control

The wheel is assembled by hand from start to finish, including a quality control check. In addition, Sapim CX-Ray spokes and POLYAX Secure heads are used, as well as a lock. The final quality control is carried out using Holand Pro Mechanics, the most prestigious for centring.

Core and additional features

The core has a design that increases aerodynamics, acceleration, strength and durability. Features include the use of 7001 T6 in the hub bodies and TPI sealed cartridges. The bearings offer 29% more strength compared to bearings with conventional bearings.

Aerodynamics

78 / TwentyFour: performance at angles of attack

The 78 / TwentyFour was developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to be faster at angles of attack (AOA), especially in time trials and triathlons. Comparing data in conditions similar to KONA 2012, the Ironman World Championship and our wind tunnel tests, the following results were obtained:

  • Savings of 7 minutes and 15 seconds compared to the Armada 24 profile.
  • Savings of 61 seconds compared to the Zipp 808.

58 / TwentyFour: robust aerodynamic profile

The 58 / TwentyFour was developed using CFD to obtain a more robust aerodynamic profile in AOA. Comparing data in conditions similar to KONA 2012, the Ironman World Championship and our wind tunnel tests, the following results were obtained:

  • Savings of 6 minutes compared to Armada 24.
  • A triathlete who takes more than 5 hours on the Ironman distance bike segment saves 3 seconds compared to the Zipp 404.

Specifications

Own protocol and carbon fibre bonding

A proprietary protocol is used for the bonding of the carbon fibre in the manufacture of the wheels.

24 mm wide braking track

The braking track is 24 mm wide, which improves braking performance.

Sapim CX-Ray spokes and straight pull hubs

High quality Sapim CX-Ray spokes and a straight pull hub developed to improve the aerodynamic profile of the wheel are used.

Shimano and Campagnolo compatibility

The wheels are compatible with 11/10S Shimano systems and are prepared for Campagnolo hubs.

Deep, contoured rim

The rim has a deep, contoured shape that adapts to the shape of the tubular, improving aerodynamics.

Included accessories

Rim covers, carbon specific brake pads, quick release fasteners, valve extenders, and additional spokes and spoke heads (2 front, 4 rear) are included.

Technical specifications

The wheels are sized 700c x 20H at the front and 24H at the rear, with a laced radial spoke pattern at the front and interlocking radial at the non-drive rear, and 2X at the drive side.

Finish and colour

The wheels feature a UD carbon finish, black axles and black spokes for a stylish design.
